PWO Crystals
JSC "Bogoroditsk plant of techno chemical products" are manufacturing the PWO crystals (lead tungstate crystals). PWO crystal (lead tungstate crystal) are scintillator, i.e. crystal which can detect of ionizing radiation. Scintillation elements are intended for use as a part of the created in CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) the electromagnetic calorimeter — the scientific physical device for registration of gamma quanta. PWO crystal is have a high radiation hardness, short highlighting time, and highest density out of all known crystals that allows to project and create compact measuring devices. By the complex of physical parameters, economic indicators of manufacture, including element cost, crystal PWO has no alternative in CMS experiment (Compact Muon Solenoid), realized in CERN. CMS — it's a giant detector on a new particle accelerator. One of detector's basic elements is the electromagnetic calorimeter, where crystals-scintillators is used as a registering elements.
